I received my MSW from Loyola University of Chicago with a specialization in Gerontology. After graduating, I conducted my clinical training at North Shore Senior Center, and I continued working there for a few years. Afterwards, I moved to Louisiana, where I worked at Jefferson Parish Head Start as a Family Specialist. I was later offered an opportunity to work for Responsibility House at their residential unit for two years. My desire to serve the mental health population grew, and so I then moved into a clinical position at Family Preservation Services (FPS), where I worked as a therapist to support clients with a severe mental illness. During my time with FPS, I was soon invited to lead the team as a Supervisor and later promoted to serve as the Clinical Director. While I have enjoyed what I do at FPS, helping many clients and leading my team, I realized that I missed the connection of individual therapy.
I decided to start my private practice and dedicate my work to helping individuals restore and enhance their relationships. My clinical interests include working with trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. As a trauma therapist, I understand that it isn’t easy to talk about your past, but you and I will work on this together. I teach clients healthy coping skills and grounding techniques to help them pull away from flashbacks, unwanted memories, and negative or challenging emotions. These techniques help clients to find calm in session and to leave their past in a safe container after they leave the office.
I am someone you can trust. I get it because I have been through it. I know it’s difficult to discuss your weaknesses with a stranger, but you deserve to live a peaceful life, not one plagued with fear and worry, and I can help you achieve that.
